Qualitative reliability...

With a BTS qualification in viticulture and oenology in hand, Christian Beyer, the twelfth of the generations, has returned to Eguisheim to continue the work of the vineyard with his father.

In 1999, the Emile Beyer company won the European competition for the best Gewurztraminer.

In 2004, it was the award for the best Riesling in the world – the grande médaille d’or – which it has just won for a Riesling grand cru Pfersigberg 2002 presented alongside 600 other bottles. This distinction was confirmed at the same competition two years later with a gold medal for the wine whose grapes come from the same vine but in the 2004 vintage.

This is what qualitative reliability means. It should be noted that the16 ha of the family vineyard produce other exceptional wines. The cuvée de l’hostellerie, with a distinct gastronomic character, is so-called because the eponymous house was an old hostellerie of the 16th and 17th centuries.

A word of advice: do not miss the visit of the domain as well as its cellars, the oldest of which dates back to the 17th century. Just opposite the property you can also admire the château Saint-Léon dating from the 11th century.
